PAWS CLIENT SERVICES

We offer the following services for our PAWS clients.

Pet Food & Supply Bank

The PAWS Pet Food & Supply Bank offers each client a monthly allocation of cost-free pet food and pet supplies. Each client’s order is specifically tailored to their needs including special diet or prescription pet food for sick or chronically ill animals, collars and leashes, enrichment and training supplies, and pet treats. For clients who are homebound or otherwise unable to visit the Pet Food Bank, we offer monthly delivery, made possible by our Pet Assistance Volunteers. The Pet Food & Supply Bank distributes more than 60,000 cans of pet food, 16,000 pounds of kibble, and 15,000 pounds of cat litter annually.

Veterinary Services

Financial Assistance: Clients receive financial assistance each calendar year toward veterinary expenses, which can covers ER visits, bloodwork, and prescription medications.  Emergency funding can be available for life-threatening situations such as urgent surgeries, x-rays, ultrasounds, or dental procedures.

Ask the Vet: Ask the Vet consultations offer clients an opportunity to consult with one of the PAWS volunteer veterinarians on a variety of pet health issues.

In-Home Services

PAWS provides many in-home support services to help clients care for their pets. These services, provided primarily by PAWS volunteers, enable clients to focus on their own health and well-being while keeping their pets healthy and properly socialized. The following services are available to active PAWS clients who are physically unable to perform pet care tasks without assistance.

In-Home Cat Care: Litter box maintenance, feeding and administration of medication and/or fluids.

Dog Walking: Regular walks, exercise and socialization as needed.

Transport: Transportation to and from veterinary and/or grooming appointments.

Emergency Foster Care: For client emergency situations, such as severe illness, hospital and rehab stays, incarceration and housing emergencies crises.

Due to high need, our client waitlist is currently closed. Do you need help knowing where to go for low-cost vet care or for pet food? Please contact infopaws@shanti.org for information about community resources.
